HELP!!! Any Info on Cairns / Gold Coast

I will be heading over on my honeymoon the first week of November.

After looking at trip adviser, expedia, and all of the other travel sites out there, I figured that I would see what info any of you might have in regards to a nice hotel in on the Gold Coast that might be under the radar.

We will be spending the first week in Sydney, and then heading to the Gold Coast for week number two. Taking that into account, we are looking for a smaller hotel but still nice. Of course, it should be located on/near the water and be located near points of interest (not sure what they are).

As far as activities.... Snorkeling, Scuba, Fishing (of course), Nature stuff, would all be part of the trip along with relaxing. If you haven any info for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Back to the mind-numbing searching process...

Have you already booked your trip? Uck to Sydney and Gold Coast! You want beautiful go up to Airlie Beach/Whitsunday Islands and or Hervey Bay/Fraser Island.
Sydney and Gold Coast are BIG cities if that is what you like. Airlie Beach is nice this time of year. You can go out to the outer reef and go snorkel. We have done that and it is awesome! We spend lots of time like 5 weeks over there as my husband is Australian. We own a house in Airlie Beach. We spent a week on a 36 foot cat in Hervey Bay, it was bareboat. It is a bit pricey. If you want any other info you can PM me. Have lots of info over there and could send you some pictures of these areas. Debbie

Fishing? You are heading towards the best big game fishery in prime time no less, on the planet. The giant black marlin should be biting by then off Lizard Island. lots of good options. send me a p.m. or email & I can easily send more details. reel_fool@yahoo.com

Sydney has the best harbour in the world!
If your in Sydney there is great Yellowtail Kingfish to be had from now until April.
A very good guide is Craig McGill from Sydney Fishabout.
He will put you onto some of the hardest fighting fish you will find on 10lb gear
