The rig i used was a balloon rig...

The bait i used was a whole gar fish or as we call them here is australia "gardies" with 8 ganged hooks in a row with a 150pound wire trace.

42 c is ONLY 108 f - hot, but not unbearable - it gets to 50 c at times down the Baja coast on the Sea of Cortez side in August - now that's miserable!

cliff gaff? how does that work? is it a super long poll that you use to get the thing to the top? or do you send someone down below to gaff and secure the fish?

Hi Jay

This is the cliff gaff below

You get your fish to the base of the cliffs then hook cliff gaff onto your line and lower it down by rope. When it gets about a meter away from your fish let it free fall. This wil cause the arms to swing open and the gaff hooks to hook up around your fish ....Then pul it up
