I've heard there are brokers on the east coast that are connected to the japanese fish market that wait for these monsters to come in and snatch them up in heartbeat, big bucks for both the fisherman and the broker!
Sushi bars in Japan sell 1 order of Bluefin Tuna for $150.00!....From what I've been told from friends of mine from Japan!
Im still in awwwhhh!....What a fish of a lifetime!

Insane fish. I can't even think about how big a cooler you have to bring along for all that fish!! Congrats on an amazing catch.

Hey Guys thanks for all of the feed back.

Unfortunately due to my traveling situation I was not able to keep more than enough for just a couple of meals. You can not sell these fish here. Every Bluefin that gets caught is a team effort and most of the boats have a self imposed 1 fish a trip limit. It all gets evenly divided and what is left over after that the boat will keep, so that next trip will be able to have fish with out having to kill one. It was great having the kids there. I wanted them to be a part of it becuase no one really knows how long these fish will be around. They both want to go again and I am hoping with a little luck for the 2011 season.

That's why catching one of this size is a rarity nowadays... even more special with your kids sharing the excitement... Let's hope these magestic bluefin will be swimming around for future generations... The good news is that science is making progress in captive breeding them...
