JUNE CONTINUES WHERE MAY LEFT OFF

This month's adventures began Friday, June 1st with a fun day on the water... 'Rustico' kindly catered a fine lunch, Danno from the 'Off Piste' supplied the 'doggie bag' (Danny, next time pack the rum next time before drinking it all)... and Brian was in charge of entertainment... a flashback between 'Caddyshack' and 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'... he had us in stitches all day... thanks Spiccoli. We ended a fun day with a good catch (almost 300 weight) that would have been great had it not been for the unfiltered antics of two of the day's more handicapped (inspired) crew members...

Saturday was a day to remember... With our work horse Dennis and the AWAC crew, we picked at a few wahoo before scouting an anchoring spot. After the previous days behaviour, we were on our game today with a stellar chumming performance; highlights included 3 consecutive wahoo on the spinning rods, a great tuna catch topped off with a fine 77 lb Yellowfin and a stud of an Amberjack that tipped the scales @ 90 lbs...up came the anchor and we're cruising home @ 16 knot's... Jim's in the pit starting the long process of fish cleaning, the charter's in the salon suckin' on a few Coronas, grooving to Jerry Garcia Band and I'm on the bridge on a direct course for land... Here comes what I think is an XL porpoise heading right for the bow... just as I'm ready to holler down to the boys below... this BEAST, 30 feet off our starboard bow turns sharply, LIGHTS UP!... and swims 15 feet off our starboard side and careens across our wake where our left flat usually lives... an absolute slob of a Blue Marlin that would undoubtedly win 9 of 10 July 4th World Cup Tournaments... I was speechless... In awe of what I'd just witnessed... With out a doubt one of top 3 Blue Marlin encounters I've had in my fishing career... that so clearly reiterates what I've preached to so many friends and clients over the years... It not always about what you catch... Some days it's about what you see... And this Saturday was a sight I'll NEVER forget... What a way to end a perfect day on the ocean...

Sunday... Team Temperature Control... (who I'm eternally grateful for keeping our ice machine and freezer plates in great working order) Was joined by our old friend (and over-paid mate) 'Feeds'... We knew we were in for an entertaining day when the crew showed up w/ 4 cases of beer, 2 large pizzas and 3 buckets of KFC... this was promising to be an exciting end to another week of Bermuda fishing. We arrived on the bank at an early hour only to find all the parking bays on our previous day's hot spot full. This combined with a slightly green plumber and a steady increase in the breeze kept us on the troll today... a pair of Pompano Dolphin and a decent Wahoo catch highlighted by Cisco's fine 64lb fish capped off another fine week of fishing on the 'Wound Up'.... Highlights from the rest of the fleet included good tuna catches by the 'Gringo' and 'Playmate'... 33 wahoo by 10:30 am by the venerable 'Troubadour' on June 1st... a fine 69lb wahoo on 16lb line taken by Paul Fox onboard his father Danny's 'Dansar' and 'Catch of the Week' was an impressive 91lb Yellowfin Tuna taken on 20 lb line in 40 minutes by 76 year old Crayton Green aboard Spiccoli's 'Off Piste'...!!!...
