BahamaLure strikes ! First swordfish on the troll off Fort Lauderdale last week, after many strikes with no good hook up it finally worked. Glow lures - no strikes at all!

WTG! Awesome! Alan, is that a squid/lure setup? It looks like a squid with the skirts of the lure over the squid? Any marks over the eye of the lure?

thanks Harry - yes, there is a squid in there under the skirt but the lures with no bait get wacked too. No marks over the eye as I dont think the bill hit the head. We had one that did do some damage to the head, they really slash the lures hard on the initial strike.
this one hit at 7 knots into a 4 kt head current, pretty much hi speed trolling, none of the 4 kt nonsence we all hear about!

now that is cool. I need one of those last week on our 50 mile troll one night to the next spot. We went over quite a few large bait balls, and one absolutly HUGE one. All in 1000-3000 ft of water. Man, I know the fish were there. So, where can a person pick up the lures at?

Wow...that's pretty neat chit right there...
Do you leave your spreader lights on?
What waves do you run those lures on?
Was this in the Bahamas or Fl?
God i should be running lures at night more!
Thanks for the info...great photos...

That sail was a canable. The feather was the same colors as the sailfish.

no
What waves do you run those lures on?
preferrably under them, you want the lure submerged, easier for the sword fish to find and when they wack it it will not fling accross the wake.
Was this in the Bahamas or Fl?
off Fort Lauderdale
God i should be running lures at night more!
yep
will report when I have more results, have 12 more experimental sword lures ready for deployment and testing....

My latest PM said "Been working with the Bahama lure guy and he is comning over next week with some new colors to try on the Swords, hopefully we will have a great report and pictures."

Hi Steve, yes I know Dan - he's my Chief-in-charge-of-swordfsih-lure-testing
great guy, he has been instrumental in developing the lures you see in the post above, they are the ones we will troll next week. Hopefully we will be able to start zeroing in on which colors and speeds work and under which moon and weather conditions. We also have an all black lure that has had hits on it. Reports to follow with results.
Are you trolling for swords too?
