| 2 1/2 days in the GOM ( Gulf of Mexico )
I 'll try to compress 2 1/2 days of great action into a couple of paragraphs. Eight of us went out on "Pure Pleasure" on Wed. Afternoon, we traveled slow to increase our milage. The plan was to head out 130 miles and try to find Yellow Fin Tuna and Wahoo. You can normally find these fish closer, but they are not in abundance and then you also have to deal with the mosquito fleet. I don't know how far you west coast guys have to travel to find this action.
We got to our first spot Thur. 5 am. Jigged diamond jigs for tuna, landed 12 Blue Fin Tuna ( black fin tuna ). Moved on to Boom-Vangg and N. Vanssen, they are offshore floating rigs in about 3000K ft. We spot a huge bull dolphin,, but was not interested, he came close twice to a red and white Ranger lure. we trolled the rest of the day saw a coulple of bills that afternoon and landed a hoo. Late thur. afternoon we put out ceader plugs and had good success for Blue Fin Tuna. We saw a fish jump 5' out of the water and hit a red and white ceader plug sold by snapper slapper, he jumped a couple of times some of the crew saw big tuna others saw marlin and another saw dolphin. Who knows what it was, the fucker broke the hook.
fri. morning we woke up to about 7 other sportfishers, what had been a pleasant trip, having the GOM to ourselves turned into Grand central station. Fuckers with million dollar yachts thinking they own the water, some piece of crap trolling right behind and criss-crossing our spread. What a pile! we did manage to land more Blue Fin Tuna. We start to head back in.
We troll the whole time back, then we get into the bills. From her on I'll let the pictures tell the story, as it gets foggy for me, I banged my head and shoulder into some railing and some details escape me. If there are any questions I answer them as best as I can.
