Seattle Fishing 4/9/05

I was up in Seattle for a few days last week with one of my students at the National Journalism Conference.

Awesome food and beautiful sunny weather for the most part.

My student's uncle lives up there and took us out on his boat Saturday for a little fishing. We trolled for salmon to no avail but picked up a few odd creatures including a sea cucumber, and skate that proceeded to poke me in the hand with poison, making it swell like a balloon. Caught a nice little sanddab that was 12.5" and a golden bass.

Oh, and the last pic....I asked the kid sitting in front of me on the plane to try on his paintball helmet for fun. He said he thought my head was too big. Alas, he was wrong.

That sea cucumber might look very tempting to some

He said it was a skate...or rat fish. Either way, it had this little barb on his top fin that sneaked down and stabbed me. Owwwwwwwwwwwww. My hand is still swollen.

Kinda looks like a rat fish but no rat teeth , sorry about the hand , soak it in some epsom salt and hot water with a splash of phisoderm in it

Interesting very interesting... yah ratfish. I knew they had a spike but I did not know they can poison you. Sorry about that Annie.

Weird fish in the report but I like it.

Found another pic of my rat fish. They were actually kind of cute. Had eyes like that Puss n Boots from the movie Shrek II.

Oh, and thanks for noticing ZZZZZZZ...I have eradicated my head from most of my pictures lately.
