Bad Weather Father & Son Tournament

Capt. Erik Lorentzen, files this report for the 2009 Father and Son tournament held this past weekend 19-20-21 June at Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala -

First day – 19 June:

Cañaso 19-12-8 and missed a small blue

Release 18-14-8

Intensity 8-5-3

Finest Kind 6-5-1

We were all fishing within 15 miles of the marina and within eyesight of each other. Water is beautiful, lots of dorados.

Second day – 20 June:

Cañaso 3-3-1

Release 10-10-5

Intensity 19-14-5

Finest Kind 10-5-5

Seas were 5-7 ft, with heavy bands of rain moving through. Seas picking up to 6-8 and an occasional 10 footer. We called the 2nd day at 12 o'clock.

Weather report calling for higher winds tomorrow.

Third day – 21 June:

Cañaso 5-4-1

Release 8-7-5, BM 1-1-0

Intensity 6-5-3

Finest Kind 8-7-3

Legend was getting more complicated everyday. It was a monicker given to me by my mentor, Jim C. Chapralis, who died a couple of years ago. There are many legends out there including Ron Hamlin and Stu Apte who earned the right to use the title.

I've retreated to my nickname Marlinhunter2 and with the admins blessing have merged the Legend postings into it.
