June 7th? How long will you be in town? Just walk the dock at city float and ask the charter guys. For some good fishing see if you can take a water taxi and get to Craig. Look up Rob Endsley Prince of Whales Sportfishing. Your fishing in the ocean for Salmon, and Halibut.

| "Water Taxi" to Craig?
There is no "water taxi" from Ketchikan to Craig. You can take the 3hr ferry ride to Hollis, then take a cab 45 minutes to Craig or take a 40min floatplane ride to get there. But on a cruise, you're kind of limited on time. So a trip to Prince of Wales is kind of out of the question. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the charter companies in Ketchikan to recommend one over another. Prince of Wales, now that's a different subject, but that won't help "outdoorsmen".

Yeah thats why I asked how long will he be in town. I wasnt sure on the water taxi thing. But if he's in Ktown, the nearest great fishing would be out there. If his cruise goes to Juneau, get a cab to Auke bay and talk to one of the guys at the top of the dock. Not sure where they get into them but I always see guys in early June cleaning fish with happy customers.

There's still good fishing in the KTN area but early June is not the best time. Lucky Strike Charters and Louis Stamm would be one of the best choices.

Ya really need to know how long the cruise ship stops on Ktown. The last cruise I was on that stopped in Ktown didn't allow enough time for any serous fishing. After checking with couple of charter boats, even they said it would be a waste of $ to try.

The time issue was my first thought. I would make the arrangment to charter outside of the Cruise ship offereings and then make it so you are on the water for atleast 8 hours to maximize the fish killing time.

When the sea slugs are in the area you can catch lots of them in a few hours.
A cruse is not the best way to see SE Alaska, the AMHS is cheaper and better and you can control where and when you go and how long you stay, within their schedule.
The cruse lines would prefer that you stay in the herd and only go to their destinations...and stay far away from the evil Alaskans. The cruse industry destroyed KTN as well as any other town in Alaska that they took over. My wifes shop on Water Street overlooked Tongass Narrows and had a good view of Pennock and Gravina Islands but the cruse lines first blocked it then bought her building and tore it down. The Norby Building was a part of KTN's history.

I would go with strike zone charters ( Ketchikan Fishing, Sportfishing, Ketchikan Charter Fishing - Ketchikan Fishing - Alaska Fishing - Salmon Fishing - Halibut Fishing), Luke is a great guy and would get you into a few fish
that would be a derby weekend so My boat will be full Quote:
