Once again I'm sorry for the lack of reports but like most guides...your day's are full and your evenings are even more busy!
I can't say enough about how good the fishing has been this summer ...most day's flat seas and little rain...foggy some mornings...I like it like that....most others won't follow you in the fog...
As August is usually the month we see a slow down turn for Kings but the Silvers show up in hords and the bottom fishing is gang busters....most days bringing in over 300lbs of halibut, snapper, lings and an assortment of others after that...
I had a day inbetween clients so I decided to take my brother out for a half day and try some of Dad's old spots for August Springers....
We were skunked for the first 2 hours then moved over to "grandpa's hole"...
I never fish it much any more but as time has told me...we've popped a few hogs here over the years and I thought...why not!
First pass and we hook into a double header of pinks and as most might know by now...I rarely let pinks into the Jessies Girl and today was no exception.
I set the gear down again and what happened next was pure adrenaline...fucking mayham...awesome......bang pops the clip and the rogue rod is bent and before I could set the hook and monster king shows himself just behind the boat.....zzzzzzzzzzzzz.... and we are off to the races and my hand is burning as I try to palm the real and slow the pig...he won't have any part of it.......I scream at my brother to get the other rod in and chase the fish .....now I'm into backing and just like that the fish turns and heads for the kelp......
Now I've caught a few large fish for sure over the years and I knew she had to be 40 plus.....man this is heaven...not for long....
After a few more short runs...pop....the hook pulls and as I bring the gear up I realize she has sawed off the trailing hook....next time!
I get the boat swung around and as I drop the first rod back down it pops instantly on the way down.....I real fast...set the hook and do the hand off to Jeff.....game on again and after a short but decent tussle....24lbs of beauty...

I'm up next and after about twenty minutes or so I'm into another hog that takes me to backing again.....

we ended up going 4 for 6 for the day...and a few catch and release coho as well....

Th next day was a bit odd as an old friend of mine Derek Stevenson set up a trip for me to take a few guys out including his boss Ron.
After a late start...we headed up to fish for Kings and wouldn't you know it...not my day.
After what seemed like forevertrolling for nada....I asked the boy's if they wanted to try for some hali's.....yep fill the freezer was the answer....hold on you two...grab a beer and relax....your gonna need your strength when we get to the glory hole!
we drifted over the spot for only an hour or two.....this photo say's how we did....limits of just about everthing

The next day was a trip with Tom and the boy's off of the "At Ease"
sorry no photo's but we ended up with 350lbs of bottom fish for the day...halibut, snapper and lings and long jaws....we also poped off a huge fish that towed us around for almost an hour and it never really left the bottom....big fish for sure.
The very next day was Reg Carriere and the boy's....great guy's for sure and as we headed out in the morning they all said that some halibut would be nice....I knew exactly where to take them.....
We ended the day with our limits of just about everything and got some real nice sized Halibut.....

One for 4 on the kings the next day......next time....

I had a few more day charters after this but what I was really looking forward too was my vacation with the wife and kids at the end of August...and what does a guide do for fun when he's on vacation....fish some more of course.
Headed to one of our secret locations and had a great time...more fish on the inside close to the river mouth....some dark fish but man do they fight just as hard
everyone had a great time ove rthe 5 days and we are definately going back next year...

Until next year all.........and stay tuned for our updated website and if your planning on coming up to fish next year....book early folks......
later
Chad
