Let's start things off with a little apology for my lack of fishing reports but the truth is I've had very little time for anything but fishing and more fishing.
Some people might say that I've got a dream job and I'm starting to realize that I don't have any arguement there.
It's hard work most of the time and the lack of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz might be to much for most but in the end the look on client's faces when they just landed some decent fish is truelly priceless!
The First set of photos are from the boy's at the end of July....let's just say that the day's were truelly a blur.
I think we mentioned the first group in the last report but I'll put in in anyways.
Started things off with some perfect king fishing early on the 20th.
Han's had never caught a salmon before and he was up first...throttled back and in goes the gear......small talk for about three minutes and wham.....zzzzzzzzz..zzzzzzzzz...fish is peeling line and as I pop the othher rod to bring it in.....wham....a double header to start things off....not for long though as I pop the second fish of shortly after the hook set but Han's is still going strong and after a short tussle...nice 24lbs king to the net....good start.....and the smile on that clients face was awesome...mission accomplished!
over the three days the boy's had some great fishing and took home there limits of kings and hali's and some great snapper as well....great three days for sure!

Next group of the week was a great couple ....Mike and Lori...nice couple and the best part was that they had no interest in anything but king fishing so it made my day's a tad easier to plan...
I remember thinking on the way out in the morning how to explain to lori that these reels that we use up here are single action and that you need to "palm" the reel and get your knuckles out of the way...she said no problem....
I take them to where we've been hitting the magority of our larger fish...flat calm and foggy...not another boat in around yet...awesome!
We set up on the tack bucking into the tide and let the gear down....
Not much to tell for a while...just small talk for an hour or so then "boom"...zzzzzzzzz.....I set the hook and hand the rod to lori....she's into a decent fish for sure and she's trying hard to palm the reel but the fish is hell bent and her palm is burning a litlle now....I turn the boat around and chase it a little and that seemed to help...lot's of reling left to do as the fish took us down to backing almost....wow what a rush.
Lori battles hard and never gives up and after about 20 minutes or so...the hog is in the net....high fives and smiles on the faces....mission accomplished....nice.

The next fish is mike's not a huge fish but running in the low to mid 20's
he's pretty happy.

We went 9 for 14 for the 2 days and had some fantastic times including a double header of mid 20's.

Lori did well and had minimal knuckle damage or she hid it well....nice couple and I hope to see them again next year!

Next day I had little time to take an old friend out for the morning bite...and a few special coffee drinks...Gord Dayley owns the fuel dock here in town and he's been really helpful and we go back to the Old "Chilton Cup" days and I new he would love a day on the water.
We had trouble setting the hook but managed a couple of nice fish no the less...next time Gord!

After that morning I had a buddy come to town a we had some great catch and release fishing over the next 2 days.
We left town and anchored out just outside of Hardy with another boat..."My Half"...owned by Don Stevenson....awesome fish killing Machine that boat is and well Don...let's just say over the years he's caught more than his share out of Hardy....

Great times and some real nice fish....thanks Brian!

The last 4 days was a trip to Spider Island With my close buddy Derek, Wade and Myself...the Chilton Cup reunion trip"....and my little cousin Brock.....let's just say Brock learned alot this trip....maybe even a bit about fishing.
The short of it was the fishing was pretty poor till we came hope on the last day and found a awesome Hali hole....tons of fish and lo'ts of snapper and lings.

Here's a little promo for Wade as we do a lot of business together and he's a great guy to fish with....nice Hali Wade!

More to come in the next few weeks and last but not least....I have to thank my wife Angela for all she's doing at home and for our business...she's been so supportive and understands that this is what I love doing.....see you in the next few day's babe!

Later Bloodydeckers!

Re: Coastwide Sportsfishing....2 week review...Photo Heavy!!!!!

Chap...good luck at Hakai pass...but a little friendly advice...Hakai is beat...hasn't been good for over 10 years...i used to guide up in that entire Rivers Inlet-Hakai area 15 years ago and i can tell you for a fact that Hardy where Chad is offers 50 times the fishing that Hakai does right now...there are a few big fish still up there though...so good luck with that...

Looks like i might be flying Alaska more often from now on Chad so i might have to come up for some winter steelheading this year...i've been missin that chit...

Re: Coastwide Sportsfishing....2 week review...Photo Heavy!!!!!

I wa surrounded by guide boats from the Cliffs at Hakaii for 2 days...saw maybe 6 kings caught and three were by us....downriggers ofcourse!
Hakaii is extremely slow and has been all year for the most part....
There is still a chance of getting a hog on it's way to Rivers ...but that's slim to none.
Port Hardy is still one of the best places to catch kings in the mid 20's to mid 30's all day.
A client of mine lost a fish at the net that had to go 45+ and a few other fish have hit the docks in the late 40's to early 50's so big ones are on the way!
I will post another report in a week or so.......

Re: Coastwide Sportsfishing....2 week review...Photo Heavy!!!!!

And Chap....Kings in the mid 20's to mid 30's all day is perfect for most....good luck in Hakaii and I hope you can keep the Pinks off enough to get to a king...
Another thing to keep in mind....Our rates are pretty much half what they charge and most of my clients left tagged out so far this season on kings and halibut....that don't happen in Hakai I can tell you that!
