Total Fish for 4 anglers:
4 Kings - 38, 35, 32, 25
17 Coho(silver)
3 Chum
28 Pinks(all catch and release)
2 Halibut - 130, 10
19 Black Bass
2 Quill Backs(many more released)
1 Ling (Released)

The Day of fishing was incredible, from 6am to 4pm, the bite never stopped, this is my first trip to Alaska, and it is absolutely amazing. We did it with Big Blue Charters, Sitka Alaska halibut and salmon fishing with Big Blue Charters

Everything but Kings and Coho were bycatch. We caught everything off of 10.5ft G-Loomis rods w/ 25lb test and some sort of Shimano reel with a line counter. We were mooching all day long with herring.

Coming out of the Sitka Harbor Pink Salmon were jumping everywhere, and people were getting double and triple hook ups a lot places, it took us a bit later to finally find a good king drift were we slayed them.

The Big Halibut is an interesting story. My Cousin is kind of a puss, and 15 minutes into King Fishing he says his bait got snagged on the bottom, and then he says he got it, and he must have a fish. It takes him about 45min to finally get the fish up with the salmon setup, and we all think he's just being a huge puss the whole time because he probably just has a black bass on. When it gets up to the surface, many "HOLY SHIT!!" are said, and they gaff the fish, and we land a MASSIVE halibut for the tackle we're using. I caught another smaller halibut in the same area about half an hour after he lands his big one, and we're stoked with a couple of butts and and some Cohos on the boat.

After a while we finally get our limit of kings, and we hook up on some Chums during the process, and all I can say his... "holy shit" they fight so incredibly hard for how small they are, it's absolutely amazing, we caught about a 15lb chum, and for the first 3 Runs it fought harder than the close to 40lb King, but they don't have quite the stamina as the big Kings which made a dozen runs before we were able to net the fish.

All in all it was an amazing day, and we still have tomorrow

BTW, that's only a small portion of the Fish on the Deck, felt like I needed to get in a partial pic of the big butt though...

Re: Sitka 7/31/07

Went back out today, not as good fishing today....

Caught:
3 Chicken Halibut
15 Cohos
1 King
10 Black Bass
8 Quill Backs

couldn't get down to the kings because the pinks would steal our bait so much, caught and releases over 30 of them

We tried Rock Fishing a bit today....

2 Yelloweyes were the product of that, got a nice 12lber....
C&R many lings
I'm just bummed we have to leave.......

Capt Mike was helping us out, but Jacob (jake) was the deckhand. You must be that friend Jake was telling me about on Bloodydecks?
