June wrap up in Seward

Been fishing every day for weeks now so I will keep is short and sweet. June was one for the record books here. Off the hook shallow water halibut and king salmon action.
Last day in the shallow water today and then it will be a steady diet of small to medium sized halibut along with big lings, and silver salmon. Check out the photos:

Re: June wrap up in Seward

Captain Frosty, I'm heading up to the Kenai Peninsula this Thursday. Are the bigger Halibut moving out of the area or just out to deeper water? I was hoping to top my personal best of 140# I got in Sitka a couple of years ago. Can that happen? I am glad to hear that big Ling Cod are on order.
I'm getting pretty charged up just typing this.

Steve,

There are still some big fish around, Our guys from Oklahoma caught two over 150, weighed in today on our two-day trip. It is just hard to catch big halibut AND salmon And Lings in one day.

If you choose a decent guide on a halibut only trip and tell him you would like a shot at bigger fish, you might catch one. Topping your 140....If you are lucky. I heard they caught a 345 in Homer last week. I know of a 205 and a 304 caught in Seward in the last week, both with Profish-n Sea Charters....

Good luck.....

Andy, thanks for the reply.
We're fishing three days with Capt. Steve Smith out of Ninilchik. Maybe we'll devote a full day to the bigger Halibut. I'll see what we can come up with and report back here at Bloodydecks.

Thanks again, Steve
