Just got back from Alaska. Anchor Point Lodge is located on Shelter Island just a 20 minute boat ride from Juneau. In the pic of the King notice Mendenhall Glacier in the left background. The seascape & mountains are just fabulous. The cloud formation are constantly changing & adds to the beauty of Alaska. Along the shore just a few steps from the lodge is an area of good Dollie fishin. Got to get something BD in a pic, a beanie to keep the retard warm. The salmon eggs are the best & largest in the clum salmon & they have big teeth. The food is 5 star quality & has a Hawaiian/asian flavor. By the time you are through with the home baked
bread & pupus (appetizers), you do not have much room left for the main coarse, let alone the desert. Even lunch is hugh. Get a choice of Sandwich or bento plus a container of home baked cookies. Breakfast is buffet style with a variety of items. Black Cod fishing is a new thing. Not very exciting, but if you want to take some home with you, you will have to catch your own.. 1,500 ft down with an electric reel. It is hard work since you have to be on your toes to be sure not to miss the tip of the rod go tap tap. If you miss it, you will not know you have a fish on. The Hawaiians call it butterfish & it is a real delicacy. They served it here as pupus & main coarse several times. It is much better than halibut & salmon. The rack of black cod cannot be big enough for the gourmets. The American bald eagle is a photg's dream. Sashi, the dog, did not take to the bird picking up the scraps of salmon. Next time I think I know how to stop the motion of the eagle & still be able to get the depth of field I need to get the backround in focus. The weird lookin fish is a pacific grenadier. Also tasty. We eat everything around here. Almost forgot, notice the t-shirt Matt is wearing. Matt, by the way, is a co -owner/captain of the lodge. Don't forget the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge on Sept. 28 -30th.
The last night of the trip, the crew had a bon fire going for everyone to gether around to celebrate the end of a great adventure. Almost forgot to thank Anchor Point Lodge & Shelter Lodge for their donation of a trip for 2 to one of their lodges again this year to Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge 2007. Two years ago Curtis won it as part of his grand prize. He & Kevan went up there last year. Seaya!

Nice report Harry. We had a great time there last year. The entire staff made us feel like family from the minute we met them at the airport to the hugs goodbye. The shots of the food made me real hungry all of the sudden. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

Have an ex co-worker that goes every year. Hawaiian Japanese man whose father ran a commercial tuna boat in Maui back in the 40's. He would show me the pics every year.
He also said they have a big BBQ in Torrance (or thereabouts) every year to start the booking season. Beautiful place.
