| Alaska - The other side of the tracks...
Well from the last report, it looks like things are a little slow over on the other side of the Peninsula.
Fishing over here on the ocean side in Seward is building to our seasonal peak. The kings are a little scarce but this week there have been some nice ones to 40 pounds taken. The water is very cold..41 degrees and when it warms up about three or four more degrees....the kings will light up. I am marking fish, they are just not feeding too much yet.....
Halibut fishing has been quite good and I am pleased to report some nice fish being caught in well under 100 feet of water. Limits every day with at least a few bigger fish every day. We had the interior linemen from the Green Bay Packers out last week. They braved some seriously nasty weather and caught limits to 100 pounds. Yesterday the bite was downright savage when the water started moving.....
I think Ali, Derek and Brant are going to arrive here at the peak of the shallow water halibut season.
I did paint some silver fish on the bottom of my boat and have had lingcod, halibut and rockfish swim up and check them out.....I will get some photos of the fish hanging off my swim platform on the next sunny, calm day...
Here are some photos of catches made this week on my boat and one from the Profish-n-sea's boat Pursuit and some idea of what we do when we don't have a charter.....This is going to be a stormy week and I doubt we will get out until Friday. Looks like it is going to be wakeboarding and lake trout for a few days.
