Looking for a ride

I will be in Anchorage on business the week of 10/4. What are the options for fishing at this time of year? I will have Saturday available to fish. I would love to go out with an Alaskan BDer if possible. I can split all the expenses and share the work on board. Also, I'll be happy to reciprocate in So Cal on my boat. If a charter or ho position isn't available....where is a good place to fish from shore? Thanks and tight lines.

This is the time of year when things start wrapping up. Focus your search on the Eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula. Fly fish the upper Kenai out of a drift boat for nice AK trout is my recommendation. The seas are starting to get and stay real nasty. You might find some later running silvers that are still bright somewhere. I was just out at a village in Kachemak Bay last week and the silvers were just coming in. Steelhead can be an option as well, Get a guide or a really educated local for the best success.

Thanks Ben. Are you or can you recommend a good guide? I have no problem traveling to wherever the fish are.

Rick,
I do not know that many people on the other side of the peninsula from me. The Upper Kenai is fishing is based out of Cooper Landing, AK. The favorite method is fly fishing. If you have a 7wt fly rod you can bring it or most charters will supply the rods for you. If you have never fly fished before do not worry about it, they will teach you everything you need to know and you will soon be addicted. You will have a blast.

PM sent.
