Heading to Hardy

Well actually Alder Bay, but the North end of the island anyway.

Can anyone recommend a sport fishing shop between Nanimo and Telegraph that could get me going for prawns? I need both knowledge, two pots and bait (I plan on running pellets). I have a couple of Washington legal pots but want to get a couple with tighter mesh as well. Hoping to get information as well as the pots for a reasonable price!

Thanks!

Try Gone Fishin' in Courtenay or Nanaimo

http://www.gonefishinshop.com

Good knowledgeable staff in Courtenay and prices are a bit better than others.

Weedeater, can you elaborate? Found Redden Net in Vancouver for golf nets and such. Is their another location I should be looking?

Everyone, thanks for the info. Most likely I will hit each of them.

Redden Net was heavily into netting for the commercial industry when that started to tank they expanded into other industries and closed some stores the one in Steveston village is gone now too, they had one a few blocks from my place in Vancouver for many years it's been gone for 5 years maybe more now.

They still have stores in both Campbell River and Port Hardy but I'm not sure how much buisness they do with the general public they do, always great guys to deal with over the years but things change.

COMMERCIAL FISH NETTING & SUPPLIES
REDDEN NET CO. (CAMPBELL RIVER) LTD.
690 N. Island Highway
Campbell River, BC V9W 2C3
Canada
Tel: (250) 286-1038
Fax: (250) 286-8303

COMMERCIAL FISH NETTING & SUPPLIES
REDDEN NET CO. (PORT HARDY) LTD.
6465 Hardy Bay Road
Port Hardy, BC V0N 2P0
Canada
Tel: (250) 949-2669
Fax: (250) 949-9576

Another excellent source of gear is Pacific Net and Twine they have store in Parksville that's easy to find tonnes of Salmon Hootchies.

Again great place to shop as are all the places mentioned above.

the one in hardy has lits of used commercial traps, many of the local comercial prawners went from 32 to 34or 36 in traps and have the smaller ones on consignment at redden they go from 35-50 dollars most have the bait jars already attached and are in good shape and yes they will sell to anyone, thae also have all the ropes and bouys you may need, and will splice the ends for u if you cant, get the sinking ground line its inexpensive and saves using line weights,

we have been using carlisle cat food for bait its a tuna based cat food, really stinks would not suggest feeding to your cat, can be found at most discount stores, fields saans walmart its only 40-60 cents a can and works great
