I still think if your going to throw plastics in the kelp , a levelwind reel is better suited for that type of fishing.

I think the SX is over kill as some guys are killing fish over 60-70 lbs.

As far as the calcutta 400b, its a nice smooth reel but no where close to the Daiwa Luna in quality. The Daiwa is all forged one piece frame, forged side plates, more bearings just much stronger. I would say a fair comparision would be a 400 TE vs the Luna.

But the shimano TE is closer to 300.00 vs 230.00 for the Luna.
And the TE has way more parts.
So for about 10-15 bucks more you could get a Luna over a 400b.
