Glad someone got their fish. Nice job.
It wasn't that he got the boat wrong.... It was that from a half mile back he thought he had good enough depth perception to call out for someone else.

Imagine if you were 1/2 mile behind someone looking towards the shore/hole and trying to guess how close that person was to the shore/hole....

It is tough to determine how close someone is.... he then took it another step to get worried that I might not announce myself and announced for me..... Then he announced a wrong boat..... if his sight is so good that he needs to announce for me he should have been able to determine what kind of bout it was.....

Anyone listening to the radio would have been looking for a 21' striper to come in and one would never come.....

Like I said he meant well... never thought he didn't....

I think some people get a little over zealous with the "Oh my God! this guy isn't going to announce, I better do it for him"

In my opinion the guy had no business announcing for someone else based upon the circumstances.... he wasn't even to the bouy yet....

If he was actually close enough to see that someone was entering the hole, he could then offer some quick radio snnouncement that a "sportboat" was entering Depoe bay and had not announced..... at least then people would not be looking for a boat that doesn't exist....

I think if any of you were in your boats and the circumstances went down like they did you might be bothered. Especially those of you with plenty of experience on the salt..... You know how to run your boat, and what you are doing..... you know how to cross a bar, and use your radio. You take pride inyour ability to catch fish and have a good time and then.... someone acts like you have done something wrong, and corrects the problem for you when there was never a problem.....

Not a big deal, but yet I didn't really think his help was inappropriate...

Please dont misunderstand... help is appropriate when needed and all my experience may not stop me from needing help someday...... but I don't think this that this guy 1/2 mile behind me needed to help me out because I did something wrong by waiting to long to announce my arrival... he actually caused a problem for me, because when he anounced a 21' Striper inbound I instantly started looking around for this Striper that didn't exist....
