Truline Octagon - What the cork to do?

I'm getting back into socal fishing after about a forty-something year hiatus so I've been digging out my old stuff from the dark recesses of the garage. And, surprise!. I found my old Trueline Dynamo octagon. Looks real good too, except where the damn rats gnawed pieces of cork off the handle. Is there anybody out there who knows anybody that can repair the cork without cutting off the handle, butt, etc.? I know it's a BIG hassle but the rod is really nice otherwise. Thanks for your help!
