We were supose to have gone out with Jeff on the old No.7 May 1st and 2nd but was canceled due to weather. We booked a new date for May 5th and 6th. We headed out Sunday night to the island and started fishing at 3:00 am. Had some breakoffs but not much luck so we stayed until 9 and started moving looking for the ghost. We went drifting for halibut and I had picked up one. The deckhand telling us there are white seabass on the other side of the boat, right on the surface a big school, BIG fish! We anchored and started the time of our lives! I think this is a once in a lifetime event! We has so many fish break off.
I have heard these fish go stupid, the engine noise did not bother them. We were in 20 ft of water. These fish were snapping my 40 pound line. I had one fish heading for the kelp and had almost spooled me, he broke off and the decky told me it was a good 60 pound fish.
