Hey that kid has no life jacket on. Whats wrong with you?

Probably the same thing thats wrong with me.

Congratulations on you and your sons shark. Must have been an awesome time for you two, something you will never forget.

It has now been two years since my son and I got ours but we relive it every time we are on the boat.

Here is a copy of our report here on BD. I don't know how to put up the link. I believe my son was fifteen.

My dad and i decided to head out today after hearing about all the threshers. WE launched at ski beach around eight am. Our plan was to make some bait, then troll for the t sharks. The mackrel were hard to find. Finally found them down deep. We dropped rock cod rigs down deep and picked up about 10 mackrel. We trolled two rods one deep with a 2# sinker and one on the fly.

The first rod to go off was the one deep. About 30 seconds later, our other pole goes off and line starts screaming off the reel. I let the beast run for about ten seconds, and then set the hook. After about 20 mins of fighting it, it feels like it gives up and i start reeling him in.

All the sudden he comes exploding out of the water right into the air and smacks the water. He takes a few more jumps and runs. 40 min. later we get him to the boat.

This is when the fun starts. My dad gaffs him in the tail, ties a rope to his tail, and we drag him behind the boat for a little while. After thinking he was dead, we bring him in the boat. Bad idea. He starts going crazy smacking his tail at us and all around the boat. Finnaly after escaping injury, we manage to calm it down and tie it to the boat. We didn't get to weigh it because the dana landing dock was under construction, but our guess was about 170- 200 lbs. He ended up being 9 feet 6 inches long. What an amazing expierence to see something that big leap out of the water like that. Great fun day on the water. Thanks Dad.

We dont know how to upload photos but we have some.
