Re: diesel for my 26 Anderson

Bill (Allison) has the same motor in his Skippy that I run in my Stripper. That engine is now 320 hp and will easily push your boat faster than you will want to go 90% of the time. Oh, it will also give you close to 8mpg while tuna trolling and 3+mpg while cruising. Volvo's are another great option but are heavier. They also have the fly-by-wire deal that makes steering and gear changes a one finger affair. BUT, auto-pilot is a lot more expensive because of some sensor you need for drive angle.

To me, the biggest reason to go single diesel is RANGE! Unless you run the thing many hours a year, you will NEVER SAVE MONEY. If the manufacturers ever pull their collective heads out of their asses or people buy more diesels and make them cheaper, range is the last holdout. Hours per year can be a benefit if you use them a lot.
