Wrote this little deal while trying to think of what my broke ass could get for my grandpa on his 72nd birthday today.
My Grandpa has trouble seeing,
But he can easily tell right from wrong
And you know grandpa can’t shoot very straight,
He misses his family and friends all the time
He didn’t get a college education either,I reckon that’s why he doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit
But you know how little he exercises,
Yet he runs across people he knows all the time
For that matter he’s pretty thick skinned at times,
He has the calluses to prove he worked to get that way
He’s got a known heart problem,
He opens it to everyone he meets
I guess I wouldn’t call him a hunter either,
then again I can’t remember the last time he didn’t find what he was looking for
He’s 72 and a child at heart,
loves to kid around with everybody
He may never be a teacher,
but he’ll show a rusty bolt a thing or 2
He is and always will be a fireman,
which means he knows we’ll never safely fit 72 lit candles on a cake
He’s a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend and for that we all love him dearly. Happy birthday Grandpa
