| Re: Oceanside inshore Dorado,Yellows, Mako
Nice report Jim. I'm reading and reponding to this on my color crackberry up at June Lake, pondering where we'll flyfish today. Half of me says I should be down there, but the responsible half had me up here helping April and UASC out on a DFG Kid's Fishing Day in Mammoth. I spent the morning hooking and handing Alpers trout, many of which became the kid's first fish. I think the highlight was hooking the biggie out of pool and handing it to this 5 year old girl and then watch it smoke her and wrap her around a large rock. Yep, she got rocked like a yellow, but we got it out. Fish ended up about 3+ lbs. Since she had already kept a nice trout, her parents convinced her that releasing it was the right thing to do. Just a good story overall.
Still, I'm reading reports like yours and I should be down there. I'm scheduled for a two week road trip with April to Montanna, Wyoming, possbly Jasper up in Alberta. We talke about just spending the two weeks locally, but we're so overdue for a getaway out of the rat race and some qualit time together. So I won't be out on the salt for awhile.
I've read a lot of reports on nice sized makos around and know they have April's name on them using ultralight. So many fish, so little time. It just kills me, but I know that the flyfishing road trip is what we need.
Good job on the do dos and tails. Don't begrudge the type As and their impatient approach to patty fishing as it pays off for thos who are patient. It's the same thing with tourney-style largemouth bass fisherman vs trophy bass fishing; we know they'll spots in a matter of minutes whereas we'll sit on them all day if we know they're good. I have clock and budget on me at work; I only have enjoyment to reap out of fishing.
