Where's the logic in that Juan? Don't get me wrong, I like my trinidad, but it lives at home while my Newell lives on the boat for the same reason Justin gave, but a 4:1 gear ratio = more torque than 6:1. I mean that's just simple physics. Granted you can't make up much ground with 4:1 and Newells and Newelled/Tib'd out penns will never be as buttery smooth as a TOR/TN but I destroyed a TOR 20 last summer in less than 3 months. Didn't even catch any yellows with it. It just ate itself. On the otherhand, I have a newell 220 that's been serviced once in 12 years and still works like a charm.

Put a Torium handle on a 500 or a 332 and you'll feel like you have more "cranking power" just from the additional leverage.

And if you do want to make a penn smoother try the toothpaste trick
