Rubber band IMO, I use the small ones, like the ones you get with your fish from the Aquarium store to tie the bags, The nice part is that when you get bit the little ones pop and go away, the bigger ones tend to stick on the line and although you can wind through them it is better to not have to deal with them when you are dealing with a fish. my 2 cents, of course do what ever Iceman says and you will do better than most.
