Lever drag is easy, or back drag off on a star, in gear, clicker on. when bait is picked up, freespool, while adjusting drag, put it in gear BENDO! or the Baja way is to put the line around the bottom of the reel to give it a little more tension. You could also use a rubber band on the rods foregrip and put a loop of line under the rubberband, like a release clip.
