Lotta good places that I have went to and agree with, LG's in Palm Desert, LA Cave, Trubaco Oaks, Arnie Mortons Downtown LA (and close to home for me), JJ's in Pasadena, Ruths Chris in Pasadena.

One place that wasn't mentioned is Walt's Wharf, real nice 'romantic' atmosphere for the ladys, good drinks for the guys, and the filet is not all that expensive, but very tastey and they have always served it the way I liked it.

But, the best I have ever had, would be free grazing grass fed Big Island Beef, nothing can touch that shit... Doesnt matter who cooks it or how, that shit is tender and tasty.....
