| Re: New Zealand Best fishing in the world
Went Yellowtail fishing on a 5 day trip with Rick Pollack (used to be sportfisihng capt. in SD years ago-- has lived in NZ for many years now and has a 54' custom sportfisher), based out of Whatkatane. 2 years ago in Jan.
Fished White Island, and the East Coast of North Island.
Awesome fishery, many, many yellows (30 pounders are "rats"), our biggest was 65 pounds, but we got rocked on volcanic pinnacles by way bigger units.
We caught cabillito-type bait at night under the lights, and also caught flying fish at night by netting them as they swam in the lights!
If I can remember I'll post some photos. Fished with 4 Aussie guys and had a blast! I have 3 Kiwi families I know down there and they are awesome folks!

OK, dug up the photos from our trip....

This is Rick Pollack's new boat "The Pursuit" we were on it for 5 days (fished 7 guys real easy)
Sometime Mr. Mako got the fish before we did!
