Got up to the cabin for a quick weekend trip. Once on 395 had the road all to myself. Put the cruise control on 80 and didn't have to take it off for 84 miles. Made B-port in 7 hours. Friday morning fished the W. Walker for a limit of planters and all the 6" cutthroat you could ever want. Went back to the place and did some target shooting off the deck. Man I wish I could do that here at home. Relaxed the rest of the day and dusted off a Coors twelver. Next day went to Twin lakes but it was blowing hard. Fished Robinson creek for a limit in 15 minutes. Then went out to Bodie via the back road. Saw a small herd of antelope with once nice buck about 14". He was controlling his harem. I actually watched him mount a doe and go to town. I felt like I was watching the Discovery channel. I pulled the truck out of the way and got out to test my stalking skills. I checked the wind and actually got within about 75 yards of the buck before I ran out of cover and stood up. That sent those suckers running and man are they fast. I had the .243, that buck was just lucky there is no hunt for that area. Had dinner at Rhino's (BUMCO for the old timers) and sacked out after the 1478th viewing of Happy Gilmore. Next day fished Virginia lakes for another limit then hiked up to blue lake for some catch and release golden trout. Then headed for home. Fun trip but I am ready for some fish that pull back.
