2500.00 in the bank.

First off, Thanks to everyone who made this thing run soo smooth.

Team Fish Eyed Fools had a prompt start right from the bar to Dana to launch at 0200. I think there was one other boat on the ramp. Ran over to bait up then back to wait for the check in for "Dash for the Cash". It is so peacefull on the docks with no one around.

After the check in at 0400 ran outside the harbor and tried to make macs. No dice. Now the big decision, fish La Jolla or run to the 181. With slow reports the day before in close we made the run in the dark and calm seas. Pulled up on the high spot at about 0545. Looking for paddies for about 15 minutes before we spotted the first one right under the bow.

First cast with a blue/white tady 45 and bit. A small fire cracker about 10 pounds. After taking a picture of the captain (tourny rules) the a pic of the fish and angler.

We had a hard time trying to figure if a fish was weighed in for the "Dash for the Cash" We were able to transmit but not able to hear tournament control. We made another pass and picked up one more small fish about 11 pounds.

Now the big decission, make the 25 mile run or keep fishing this piece of kelp. Knowing there were a hand full of boats fishing close, the decission was made to make the run. In a 24' CC the etec was pinned at 5500 RPMs with a top speed of 40MPH.

We were lucky and no fish were caught in close and we weighed in the first fish. Fueled back up and ran back to the 302.

We did find a huge spot of squid that floated for a least a half hour. These are the bigger 25 - 35 pounders. We also fished a least 20 dry kelps. And broke off a large fish way down on good mark. There was great marks down 200 feet. Dropped the butterfly on 25 pound, Pinned to the rail and no slowing this fish, BF or Big Eye?? Never going to know.

Thanks again guys
