yep 50%, but you need to claim it on your taxes, unless BD's is collecting it for them (the gov.).
BD would not have the burden to "collect" (actually withhold) the taxes unless they failed to get a completed W-9 from the recipient. BD has an obligation to issue a 1099 to him though (most likely)...
