Generator Fix or Replace

I hope this is the right place to post this question and thanks to all that read this post as I am currently faced with a decision to fix or replace a generator and would like some comments from others more experienced.

I have a Quicksilver Deisel generator that just went down due to very bad heat exchanger and needs both water pumps plus the entire heat exchanger. Some of you may know that this manufacturer is no longer in business. The deisel generator is a single phase 8000 watts (model # QS-8.0D).

So the challenge is that if (and I have the part research underway) I can find the parts do I spend the time and effort to get it back online. Or do I bite the bullet and find another generator which then begs the question of new or used and what make is best.

We have been very happy with this unit up until now and it has provided good service. To the best of our knowledge the engine has about 2400 hours on it right now.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks again for reading this post.
